A very low calorie, low carb, high protein regimen. Claims of a "magical" ingredient in Grapefruit to alter metabolism not supported by nutrition professionals.  This is a fad diet to end all fad diets and can be dangerous to health.

Speedy weight loss probably due to water elimination. 10lbs in 12 days. Weight lost returns after normal diet resumed. Versions allow resumption of the diet after 2 days off.

Medical Profession Comments

The reduction of daily calorie intake to 800-100 calories will allow weight loss  but this level is hard to sustain and the dieters nutritional balance is not recommended. One small study by the Florida Citrus Growers supports the use of grapefuit in weight loss regimens.
